BAVARIAN BEER RESTAURANT
YEAR/2020
LOCATION/MUNICH,GERMANY
TYPE/RESTAURANT
A good restaurant is the best place to experience local culture.
We were invited to create an alternative concept and design for the complete overhaul of a restaurant in the historical centre of Munich. Inspired by the abbey brewery, we designed a series of spaces and fixed furniture in the two-storey restaurant with “arch” to meet the new functions. The ground floor and outdoor seating composed a busy dining space welcoming visitor with the special brewery culture of Munich. The first floor is a quiet and cosy lounge for the local to chill out. With a separated entrance, it is possible to be used as exclusive member club. There is also a podcast studio hidden in the lounge. The two huge columns standing in the middle of the space is the biggest challenge in this project. Rather than hiding the column with finishes, we surrounded the columns with steel bars to form the bar shelves and plant support, and turned the columns into the symbol of the space.
